BRITTANY COTTAGES:

Situated in the Bay of the Mont St Michel close to the Brittany/Normandy border, in a small hamlet on the edge of the village of Roz sur Couesnon. Le Pommier overlooks the Polders and the Mont St Michel (one of the Modern Seven Wonders of the World). From its position on the former cliffs, there are wonderful far-reaching views over the salt marshes, locally known as "The Polders", to the Mont St Michel and stretching as far as the Cherbourg peninsula beyond Avranches and Granville.

In a peaceful but not isolated location, the cottage is 1Km from the village of Roz, 6Kms from Pontorson, 12Kms from Dol de Bretagne and 12Kms to the famous Mont St Michel (much closer as the crow flies across the Polders).

The village of Roz boasts a bar/small grocers' cum Post Office, a bakers, an excellent butcher and a hairdresser. There are 2 good sized supermarkets in nearby Pontorson as well as 3 smaller ones. Dol, a little further away, has 2 large supermarkets and of course you can find a local market where you can buy everything from fruit/veg, meat, fresh seafood, material and bric-à-brac , almost every day of the week. There are many good restaurants close by.

Le Pommier is a spacious stone cottage which has been recently renovated by local French artisans to a very high standard but retaining all its 150 year old charm and original features - wooden beams, original fireplace, granite surrounds and niches.

The cottage offers 120M² of living space plus a 25² terrace.

The lounge/dining area (40m²), boasting the original beams and magnificent fireplace, is beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and a dining area which has seating for six. The fireplace contains a wood-burning stove. There is English/French TV, a DVD player and a stereo system. In the hall there is a separate WC as well as a large store room.

The kitchen area, excellently designed by a specialist French firm, offers a full-size oven, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a microwave/grill. The kitchen is well-equipped with a full range of cooking utensils and Le Creuset saucepans and casseroles.

Upstairs there is a large landing, 3 large double bedrooms and a large bathroom with a full-sized bath and shower, WC and washbasin. The upstairs is carpeted throughout and there are wardrobes and storage space in every room. Duvets are provided for all beds. We also have a travelcot, high chair & a stairgate for toddlers.

All rooms have convector radiators installed just in case there's a chill in the air.........

Outside there is a sunny patio area (25m³) which is south-facing and a small enclosed garden surrounded by flower beds. There are wonderful views of the polders and the Mont St Michel surrounded by the sea. There is also a small herb garden containing a selection of well-known herbs for you to use.

We also provide enough garden furniture for your use and of course, a barbecue.
Off road parking is provided.

The nearest beach at Cherrueix is a 15 minute drive away and is famous for Sand Yachting. Situated in la baie du Mont St Michel, Cherrueix is famous for its mussels (moules du bouchot). Slightly further afield (approx. 30mins) the beautiful sandy beaches around Cancale offer sand, sea and safe swimming. The beaches are very flat which means the sea is good for children. You also have the choice of many superb sandy beaches in the other direction between Avranches & Granville.

The ferry ports are very convenient: St Malo is approx. 30mins away, Caen 1hr, Cherbourg 2hrs, Le Havre 2,5hrs and Calais/Boulogne 5hrs (dual carriageway/motorway).

Ryanair fly from Stansted and East Midlands to Dinard/Pleurtuit which is 35 minutes away and during the Summer months FlyBe fly to Rennes which is about 1hr away. Even Paris is quickly accessible nowadays, (2,5hrs) thanks to the new St Malo - Paris TGV link which was opened in 2005 and stops at Dol.

The pillows are standard English size, the single beds are 90cm wide, the
Double beds 140cm. The duvets, which are provided, are standard single/double.
